RAW Recap - 9/24/18; Planting Seeds in The Shield

Tonight we'll see The Shield competing in the ring on RAW for the first time in one year! Plus Ziggler and McIntyre put their Tag Titles on the line against The Revival, and more!

The Shield kicks off the show tonight but are quickly interrupted by Acting RAW General Manager Baron Corbin. Everyone is waiting for Corbin to reveal who his partners will be to take on The Shield but the trio of Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre make their way out. The trio believes that at WWE Super Showdown the match won’t be 3 on 3 but rather 4 on 2. Rollins and Reigns both hold the keys to the WWE kingdom as they say but that leaves Dean Ambrose empty and champion-less. Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre tried planting seeds that Reigns and Rollins are using Ambrose and leaving Ambrose with nothing to show for it. Before things can get crazy Corbin diffuses the situation and we go to break.

Finn Balor (w/ Bayley) def. Jinder Mahal (w/ Alicia Fox): This match was to get more eyes on the Mixed Match Challenge. Sunil got involved and almost costed Finn the match. Bayley helped out her partner by dropping both Sunil and Fox on the outside. Balor got the win on a roll up. After the match Mahal almost destroyed Sunil for costing him the match but decided to calm down with a little Shanti.

Riott Squad def. The Bella Twins and Natalya: This match was an absolute mess. It looked like Liv Morgan got knocked out during a barrage of Yes Kicks from Brie Bella. During a commercial break Liv was taken to the back for medical attention. Ruby Riott came in off of a blind tag and hit the Riott Kick on Natalya for the win.

Dolph Ziggler catches Dean Ambrose backstage and gives him a heads up that if something goes down Dean doesn’t have to do anything. Interesting...

Konnor def. Chad Gable: This match wasn’t bad at all. Konnor gets the win clean with a reverse side slam.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre def. The Revival to RETAIN the Raw Tag Team Championships: Really fun match. This one really showed how good The Revival are, hopefully it means seeing them more. Ziggler and McIntyre have become equally as good as a team putting together quality matches consistently. Lots of back and forth action with The Revival keeping the champions on their toes. Eventually McIntyre is able to separate Dawson from Wilder who gets hit with the Claymore Zig Zag.

Bobby Lashley def. Elias via DQ: This one went extremely long to just end in a DQ. Lio Rush did some more Spider-Man evasive stuff, he is really going to do wonders for Lashley in terms of getting him over with the audience. It just fits.

Seth Rollins approached Drew McIntyre backstage to use the same mind games to try and convince Drew that he is being used by Ziggler.

Nia Jax def. Alicia Fox

The Shield def. Baron Corbin and the Authors of Pain: Great main event to close out the show. The action went from a wild brawl to bodies just flying everywhere. Ambrose was kept on the outside for a considerable amount of time but when he came in he cleaned house to the delight of the crowd. AOP almost had the match won but Reigns interrupted their Last Chapter finisher with a Superman Punch. Roman hits a Spear on Corbin for the win.

Ziggler, McIntyre, and Strowman were seated on the ramp watching the match. At the end, Ambrose was on the outside between both groups. Ambrose goes back into the ring for the Shield pose symbolizing he is Shield through and through.

Tonight’s Raw wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything to go crazy over. Next week Shawn Michaels returns to sell Super Showdown. What did you think of the show? Comment below or reach out to us on Social Media:
