SmackDown Live Quick Hits! - 6/19/18; Rusev Wins on Rusev Day!

SmackDown comes to you live from the Huntington Center in Toledo, OH. Tonight we will have a five-way Gauntlet Match to determine the Number One Contender for the WWE Championship!

Becky Lynch vs. Billie Kay

Nice rebound win for Becky after coming up short Sunday at Money in the Bank. I really hope WWE takes a shot on Becky after seeing how popular she is with the crowd.

Jeff Hardy has some really cool contacts.

Daniel Bryan gets the crappy end of the deal and is announced as the first competitor in tonight's Gauntlet Match.

The Sanity vs. Usos match didn't happen as Sanity jumped the Usos before the bell and laid them out. Bummer.

Bludgeon Brothers def. Gallows and Anderson

Gallows and Anderson could be a huge babyface Tag Team if given time. The crowd seemed to be really behind them here with a solid reaction of the hot tag from Gallows to Anderson. In the end however the power of the Bludgeon Brothers is too much to overcome as they defeat Gallows and Anderson with an assisted sit out powerbomb.

Main Event: Five Way Gauntlet Match

Daniel Bryan's music hits before Bludgeon Brothers can even make their way all the way up the ramp. There is an awkward, long staredown between Bludgeon Brothers and Daniel Bryan.

Big E and Daniel Bryan start this one and I could not be more excited about this one. These two men did not disappoint. Big E showed that he can go in there and work with anyone and it will be good. Big E matched Bryan in terms of quickness and speed which is wild to think about. Bryan was able to lock in a triangle sleeper and when Big E was able to power up to a standing position Bryan transitioned beautifully into the heel hook. Daniel Bryan eliminated Big E with the Running Knee. Bryan's luck doesn't get any easier as he has to take on Samoa Joe. Daniel Bryan got everything thrown at him by Samoa Joe. These two did not hold back on each other to the point where Bryan's chest looked like tenderized meat. In the end, speed outweighed power as action spilled to the outside. Joe locked on the Coquina Clutch while the referee counted. Bryan was able to fight out of the hold by the count of 8 1/2 beating Samoa Joe in a race back inside the ring while the referee's count reached ten. Before the next competitor is announced, the Bludgeon Brothers reappear and beat down Daniel Bryan. The Miz is announced as the next entry in the match and immediately hit Bryan with the Skull Crushing Finale to eliminate him. It all comes down to Rusev and The Miz. I have a feeling this match was to solidify Rusev's full-on face turn. The crowd was 100% behind Rusev. After some nice back and forth action Rusev is able to lock in the Accolade and gets the win! Rusev will face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules! Styles comes down to the ring, lays the title down and shakes the hand of Rusev. Yep, definitely a face turn. Aiden English wants a handshake of his own but instead pulls his hand back as a gag on Styles who decks English knocking him to the ground.

That's all for SmackDown Live! I enjoyed tonight's show. Heavy on the wrestling and it looks like we're getting some new stories from the "Blue Brand". What did you think? Leave a comment or reach out to us on Social Media:
