SmackDown Live Quick Hits - 6/12/18; Last SmackDown Before Money in the Bank

It's the last SmackDown Live before Sunday's Money in the Bank! Huge show tonight, Nakamura vs. Jeff Hardy, Rusev vs. Samoa Joe and more!

Tonight's SmackDown Live kicks off with the ladies from the Blue Brand who will be participating in Sunday's Money in the Bank. They all take shots at each other while claiming they are going to be the winner of the match on Sunday. SmackDown Live GM just wants the briefcase back in the possession of SmackDown. The IIconics make an appearance, making fun of everyone in the ring. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville come out to instigate the situation which causes a brawl between all eight women. Later tonight we will have an eight-woman tag match.

Daniel Bryan def. Shelton Benjamin via Submission

Very solid match. Both men had the same strategy, attacking each man's leg. I'm really enjoying Daniel Bryan's current run since returning to in-ring competition. Bryan is way more methodical, way more aggressive than ever before. It sort of gives me flashbacks to the "American Dragon" days on the Indies.

Paige adds Asuka and Carmella to night's ladies tag match making it a 10 Woman Tag Match. Miz gets his wish and will be the special guest referee for tonight's match between Samoa Joe and Rusev.

Jerry Lawler interviewed WWE Champion AJ Styles. It was a pretty basic sell job promo for the match between Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. I do like the old school side stage set up for interviews.

Rusev def. Samoa Joe via Pinfall

This was a pretty physical contest. The Miz was calling things down the middle until Aiden English distracted him. Rusev ducks a running Samoa Joe who collides with The Miz in the corner. Samoa Joe hits a Uranage and goes for the pin but Miz refuses to count. Samoa Joe attempts to hurt The Miz but Rusev stops his attack with a Machka Kick and pins Joe for the win.

After the match, Rusev attempts to climb a ladder to symbolize his confidence heading into Money in the Bank. The Miz stops Rusev and hits him with a Skull Crushing Finale and retrieves the briefcase himself. Byron Saxton opens the briefcase and shows Miz it was stuffed with pancakes. The New Day is shown backstage laughing at The Miz's expense.

Jeff Hardy def. Shinsuke Nakamura via DQ

This was turning out to be a pretty good back and forth match until Shinsuke Nakamura had to be a jerk and hit Jeff below the belt for a disqualification. Nakamura hits Jeff with a Kinsasha and counts to ten as sort of a call out to his opponent Sunday at Money in the Bank, AJ Styles.

Asuka, Charlotte, Lana, Naomi, and Becky Lynch def. Carmella, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, and The IIconics

I really got into this one when things broke down and chaos ensued. I loved the back and forth action and was genuinely surprised with Lana breaking up a pin and preventing a loss. Asuka puts the Asuka Lock on Carmella who has no choice but to tap.

At the end of the match, the four ladies gather around Asuka and stare at the Money in the Bank briefcase up above. If the winner comes from SmackDown could they plan on cashing in the contract on Asuka if she defeats Carmella? That's how the show ends, what did you think of tonight's SmackDown?
