Raw Recap - 7/3/17; Last Stop Before Great Balls of Fire

Find out what went down on the final Raw before Great Balls of Fire!

Enzo Amore kicks off Raw in Phoenix delivering one of the most passionate promos I have ever witnessed. It was a clear and concise message that Enzo may have written off another check he can't cash but good luck trying to make sure he doesn't get to the bank. This promo was so good not only do I want to see Enzo win at Great Balls of Fire against Big Cass, I'd like to see him succeed in some fashion in WWE. Kids love him, die hard WWE fans love him, and for that, he loves them back. Say what you want about Enzo, even I reached a point where I was getting tired of the schtick, but this dude came out breathing fire and smelling like smoke. Big Cass may win this one on paper but it is hard to count out a man who has nothing to lose.

While Cass was giving his reaction to the promo Enzo jumps him from behind and wails away before being separated by officials. Yeah, definitely excited for this one.

Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss

Super sloppy match from the ladies. Nia Jax was the only bright spot of the match as it seems she's beginning to understand how to use her size in a convincing way. Nia disposed of Bayley early on in the match by ramming her knee into the face of Bayley who was propped up against the barricade outside. Somehow Sasha is able to overcome the odds and lock on the Banks Statement on Bliss to get her to tap. I sure hope their match Sunday is better than the exchanges we saw in the ring.

Backstage GM Kurt Angle is on the phone when he is interrupted by Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men believes that Roman Reigns will not be able to compete this Sunday due to Braun's vicious attack on Roman last week. According to Angle Roman will be at the PPV Sunday so Braun has nothing to worry about. As for tonight, Braun is looking for competition but Angle believes no one will want to face Strowman so close to a PPV. "You're an intelligent man, you figure it out." Ominous words to Angle from Strowman.

Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar

MizTV Segment

Tonight was all about Miz giving himself credit for "spiking the ratings" after last week's segment with Lavar Ball and also to discredit Dean Ambrose as a worthy contender for the Intercontinental Championship. Obviously, Dean comes out and wants a rematch but another person feels he deserves a shot as well. That person is Heath Slater and seems to have a legitimate claim after pinning Miz last week. Miz tries to back out of the match but GM Kurt Angle makes it official and Miz will be facing Heath Slater for the Intercontinental Championship tonight.

The Miz (c) vs. Heath Slater - Intercontinental Championship

What a performance by Heath Slater. Just by keeping himself in the match until the very end did wonders for the match overall. Miz not wrestling in his gear sucked for him as he split his pants right down the ass. Thank God he was wearing underwear. Eventually, the Miztourage caused a distraction allowing Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. Give Slater a US Title run, it would make for great TV.

Goldust premiered his film, The Shattered Truth. It was basically an edited down version of his attack on R-Truth last week making him out to look like a star. When the short film was done the lights came back on to show R-Truth standing behind Goldust. Both men get into a brawl until Goldust escapes and retreats.

We head back to GM Kurt Angle's office where he is approached by the Raw Tag Team Champions, Sheamus, and Cesaro. Angle makes the announcement that at Great Balls of Fire this Sunday, Sheamus and Cesaro will defend the Titles against The Hardyz in a 30 Minute Iron Man Match. This PPV is surely looking like it's must watch. Cesaro wants to get ready for the match so he requests to face Finn Balor. Before receiving an important phone call Angle grants the request.

Seth Rollins vs. Curt Hawkins

Hawkins actually wanted to face Braun Strowman. The man is insane. Hey, at least Hawkins is on TV. He gets beat in 45 seconds I kid you not. That Ripcord Knee Strike is nice.

Seth calls out Bray Wyatt. Seth plans to end the mystique of Bray Wyatt and proves he is not a God. So after Great Balls of Fire, there will only be one question, is Bray Wyatt a man or a coward?

Neville vs. Mustafa Ali

Mustafa freakin' Ali is a freaking star. He almost had this one but almost coming close seemed to tick Neville off. The King of the Cruiserweights just dismantled Ali even after a rally. Neville locks on the Rings of Saturn "with a little extra sauce" as Booker T put it. Neville wins a great match. Neville vs. Akira Tozawa this Sunday at an already stacked Great Balls of Fire PPV.

Bray Wyatt is in the desert.

Alexa Bliss tapping out to Sasha's Banks Statement earlier tonight was a strategy! Aha!

"It's 110° outside, Finn Balor shows up in a leather jacket doesn't sweat a drop the guy is just that cool." -Corey Graves

Finn Balor vs. Cesaro

This match was crazy. Somehow they figured out a way to use the Hardyz and Elias Sampson. Nothing special from the match itself but in the end, Finn Balor wins with the Coupe de Grace.

Braun Strowman vs. Apollo Crews

Why would Titus do this to his boy? This gif is pretty indicative of how the match went:

Braun destroyed Apollo, then Titus, before throwing Apollo in the back of an ambulance. The ambulance didn't take off when Braun gave the signal. When Braun went to see what was happening Roman Reigns emerges from the driver's side.

This sure was a great way to get people excited for the PPV on Sunday. The card for Great Balls of Fire is absolutely stacked and I'm looking forward to it.
