SmackDown Live Recap - 6/6/17; Getting Ready for Money in the Bank

Shane McMahon kicks off SmackDown Live with the participants of the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Shane unveiled the actual briefcase, one with a nice shiny gold finish.

Shane explains the rules of the match but is interrupted by James Ellsworth. From there each woman gets to give her two cents on why they will win the match and briefcase. The Women's Champion Naomi comes down to the ring and says she wishes she could participate in the match but she knows the winner will have to go through her. The music of Lana hits and she officially makes her return to SmackDown Live. She wants in the MITB Ladder Match but in reality she hasn't earned even a shot to be anywhere close to the title. Lana storms off in anger and we begin the first match of the night.

Naomi, Charlotte, Becky Lynch vs. Carmella, Natalya, and Tamina

This was a very good match. Give it a look here.

Mojo Rawley meets with Shane McMahon to talk about getting an opportunity to really make a name for himself here on SmackDown Live. Let us not forget Mojo is the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner. Not to mention he is the only man to defeat the current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, all valid points. Shane makes him a deal, beat Jinder tonight and he is in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match for WWE Championship contract.

AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler

Very good match. Started on the ground and led into Dolph dominating most of the middle of the match. Ziggler tried twice to get a cheat win to no avail. He tried to duplicate the end of their match last week but AJ ducked the leg sweep and sunset flipped back into the ring and transitioned into a Styles Clash for the win. I enjoyed the idea of feuds being built on wins and losses.

New Day visited the Fashion Police hoping to get some intel on their MITB opponents the SDLive Tag Team Champions The Usos. Perhaps they should start investigating what is a "Day One Ish"? Fashion Police were gifted these sweet male rompers from the New Day however.

Jinder Mahal vs. Mojo Rawley

This was a pretty basic match but it was well executed. Mojo had Jinder on the ropes multiple times but the presence known providing a distraction to Mojo. Mahal sends Mojo into the corner post then hits him with the Khallas for the win.

Sami Zayn got his ass beat by Baron Corbin again. Corbin will be on commentary for the main event now instead of Sami Zayn.

New Day vs. The Colons

Naomi is set to defend her Women's Championship against Lana, who hasn't done anything to actually earn a shot. Interesting.

Kevin Owens vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Very physical match from both men. Kevin and Shinsuke didn't do anything out of the ordinary and in fact it looked as though this match make Nakamura "look strong". Another good sign of this is Nakamura beating the US Champion clean, someone who has a great win-loss record of his own, with the Kinsasha. Again, nothing crazy but good enough to what it needed to do; Make Nakamura look like the rock star they call him.

I enjoyed this episode of SmackDown Live. Every segment had a purpose, kept very simple, and gave the beginning build to Money in the Bank a solid foundation.
