SmackDown Live Recap - 3/21/17; Shane's Yearly Leap of Faith

AJ Styles kicks off SmackDown Live showing little remorse for his vicious attack on Shane McMahon. AJ is actually really giddy over his actions and is looking to do it again tonight. As for Shane's challenge for WrestleMania? AJ isn't phased one bit.

Back from break with Daniel Bryan on the phone with Shane giving him a heads up about AJ's plans and it looks like Shane may have a plan. Baron Corbin comes barging into Daniel Bryan's office asking for Dean Ambrose. Bryan hasn't heard from Ambrose since he was attacked by Baron who takes that as he has the night off. Well he doesn't. In fact, Baron will be taking on Randy Orton for the first time ever.

American Alpha (c) vs. The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships

What a match. So much great tag team work on both side. So much suspense. I won't even spoil it here I want you to go find this one and watch it. That's how good it was.

Luke Harper says he will eviscerate Bray Wyatt next week.

Miz and Maryse aired the first part of their Total Bellas spoof and if it doesn't win some sort of award I'm going to be very sad. This skit was absolutely brilliant.

Baron Corbin vs. Randy Orton

This was the typical slow, methodical match you would expect from Orton but it was a great performance from Corbin who is showing he can really hang with upper level talent. As the match was happening Dean Ambrose appeared at the top of the stage standing on a forklift. Corbin turns his back on Orton and pays for it with an RKO. Randy Orton gets the win as Ambrose makes his way down to the ring. Ambrose accepts Corbin's challenge for a match at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental Championship.

Backstage Orton is asked what his thoughts were on Bray Wyatt's message to him last week. As he is giving his answer the lights begin to flicker and then go dark. When we get a picture Orton is surrounded by men in coveralls wearing sheep masks. Randy tries to fight his way out but he is held down by the men. Bray Wyatt appears and sort of blessed Orton with this cross. Bray says Randy exposed his one fatal flaw with Sister Abigail but in exposing the flaw he has given Bray Sister Abigail's powers. Every week this Bray Wyatt stuff gets weirder and weirder, but I like it.

John Cena vs. Fandango (w/ Tyler Breeze)

Tyler Breeze accompanied Fandango dressed as Nikki Bella. He must have gotten the costume from Maryse. Since Fandango bought himself some backup John decided to bring his own, Nikki Bella. The match was 100% Cena and ended with Breeze and Fandango trapped in STFs from Cena and Bella respectively. Fandango taps and Cena wins.

We were supposed to have a match between Becky Lynch and Carmella but Natalya decided she would rather get involved than do commentary. The entire SmackDown Women's locker room empties in the ring and begins to brawl. The scene ends with Alexa Bliss standing tall with her SmackDown Women's Championship.

Part 2 of the Total Bellas spoof. Hold on to your jorts people, Cena may ask the big question! (WWE hadn't uploaded part two at the time of typing up this recap so you're going to have to seek that one out for yourself)

Aj Styles is still waiting for Shane to pull up. A car does pull up but it was just Heath Slater and Rhyno. Shane McMahon is actually making his way down to the ring. Renee Young informs AJ that Shane is waiting for him in the ring and he sort of looks perplexed. He eventually makes his way to the stage and from the stage to the ring AJ has changed his tune and is asking for forgiveness. Maybe AJ finally realized Shane maybe isn't one to mess with? AJ gets in the ring expecting a truce but gets socked in the face with a fist instead. Both men brawl to the outside with Shane getting the upper hand with a belly to belly throw. Shane breaks down the commentary table, takes a TV monitor, and smashes AJ in the gut with it. Shane props AJ on the table then heads to the ring. We can all pretty much guess what happens here. Shane takes a leap and drives his elbow into the heart of AJ Styles. What a way to close the show.
