NXT Recap #383 - 3/22/17

Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, and No Way Jose face Sanity and more on NXT!

Oney Lorcan vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas

This was one hard hitting encounter by both men. Almas has definitely found his "thing" with his new found cocky attitude. I think it was a great idea to borrow Tetsuya Naito's "tranquillo" pose, just another layer to the person that is Almas. If NXT uses this to but more focus on Lorcan and make him out to be the hard hitting, blue collar kind of guy they may have something good on their hands. Sure Lorcan is smaller even by today's standards, but man can he pack a punch. One so good that in a few years time I'd love to see him mix it up with the likes of Sheamus, Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, etc. These two have experience against one another and it show in the early onset of this match with each men knowing what the other was going to do. Always fun to watch Lorcan throw his body around and use it as a weapon. Almas has even added some depth to his offense breaking out a beautiful handspring pele kick. In the end Almas drops Lorcan with the Hammerlock DDT. I'd love to see a feud built around these men.

DIY give us a passionate promo speaking on their journey in the business, battles with the NXT Tag Division, and how DIY is a state of mind.

A vignette for Aleister Black aired ending with the word TAKEOVER in a cryptic font. Can't wait for his debut.

Asuka vs Priscilla Zuniga

My god Asuka went in the ring and just straight disrespected Zuniga. After the bell Asuka gets on the mic. "Ember Moon, this is your head." Asuka rattles off a roundhouse kick that landed on the temple on Zuniga. Asuka did not let anything, not even a slap straight across her face, slow her down. She smiled! More scary kicks ending with one square across the back of Zuniga head. Asuka goes for the pin but at two decides she want to inflict more damage before slapping on the Asuka Lock and getting the submission victory. Asuka gets back on the mic, says some really scary stuff in Japanese, then says "No Eclipse." Did I mention Asuka is really scary?

We get a promo from The Revival who tell us they do what they do for money. They are sick and tired of having to hear about Gargano and Ciampa grinding it out to get to where they are today. As for the Authors of Pain, The Revival won't hit them with an open hand slap or flip on them, they will just drop them with The Shatter Machine like they've done everyone else.

Next week will be a special Triple Threat match between Akem of the Authors of Pain, Johnny Gargano of DIY, and Dash Wilder of The Revival.

Really awesome video package done by NXT previewing The NXT Championship match between Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Orlando. Very nice tying in the debut of Nakamura and the on screen debut of Bobby Roode last year at NXT Takeover: Dallas.

Dascha Fuentes was about to speak to Kassius Ohno regarding his loss against Bobby Roode last week when they were interrupted by Elias Sampson. Ohno challenges Sampson to a Loser Leaves NXT match next week.

As mentioned above Aleister Black will debut at NXT TakeOver: Orlando and he will face Andrade "Cien" Almas.

No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, and Tye Dillinger vs. SANITY

Very enjoyable match. Tye, Roderick, and Jose did a great job keeping their opponents on their side of the ring. I also enjoyed Tye Dillinger displaying more intensity and continuously staring down Eric Young whenever he was on offense. As good as the match was it ended on a double disqualification when the referee lost control of the match. As there were exchanges between Sanity and the others, Nikki Cross comes to the aide of Eric Young before Tye could hit him with the Tye Breaker. Suddenly an unknown woman enters the ring and takes out Nikki Cross. For those that don't know, the unknown woman is Ruby Riot, better known to fans of Indy Wrestling as Heidi Lovelace. Great to see her maker her way to NXT. Fans will love her.

The show closes with No Way Jose, Dillinger, Strong, and Ruby Riot standing tall in the middle of the ring. Very fun episode of NXT with a lot of good wrestling on the show. What did you think?
