RAW Recap - 12/5/16

Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho do battle for the US Title plus Charlotte to publicly apologize to her father Ric Flair!

Raw opens with Seth Rollins coming down to the ring and getting straight to the point. He wants revenge on Triple H. Since Triple H isn't going to be coming to the ring Seth Rollins is going to hit Triple H where it hurts, he is going to take the Universal Championship away from Kevin Owens. The Universal Champion comes down to the ring with a bone to pick with Rollins. Owens says the reason he was not able to defeat Roman Reigns last week was because Owens had the well being of his best friend Chris Jericho on his mind and lost focus. Sure Owens and Jericho had a falling out but best friends fight and make up. To make up with Jericho Owens got his best friend three Christmas gifts: A match against Rollins at Roadblock, a match tonight against Roman Reigns for the US Championship, and coming up next Seth Rollins will be taking on the Big Show.

Seth Rollins vs. Big Show

The Big Show is down to 395 lbs and looks fantastic. Typical big man versus little man match. Big Show got irritated with Owens barking orders at ringside so he chokeslammed Owens from the outside to the inside of the ring. Show says screw it and exits the ring to get counted out. This serves Owens up on a platter for Rollins who takes advantage and Pedigree's the Champ.

Ariya Daivari vs. Jack Gallagher

Big deal made for Gallagher's Raw debut and he did not disappoint. The crowd really seem to love his style and showmanship. He pins Daivari after a running corner dropkick. After the match Gallagher extended his hand as a show of sportsmanship. Daivari shakes his hand then attacks his knee. Is this a new feud within the Cruiserweight Division? I hope so.

Backstage Kevin Owens runs into Mick Foley and tries to get out of his match versus Sami Zayn but to no avail. Owens spots Jericho and tells him about the three gifts he got Jericho. He asks Jericho if they're good now since, you know, the gifts. I guess they weren't enough as Jericho is still pretty mad at Owens.

Big Cass and Enzo Amore overhear Rusev scolding his wife Lana. Against the advice of Cass, Enzo intervenes. Rusev starts shouting and Lana breaks up the argument by explaining Enzo was just trying to help. Rusev takes that as Lana is defending Enzo. She reiterates that as the wife of Rusev, he is the only man that can have her, something he has seemed to forget. Lana removes her wedding ring and Rusev storms off. Enzo offers his ear for a listen. Lana comes up with the bright idea to make Rusev jealous by using Enzo. She invites Enzo to her hotel. If I know anything about women, and I don't know much, I know this is trap. Run Enzo!

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

I'm fairly certain fans on the internet were not happy seeing Owens versus Zayn again but when these two get in the ring it's always top quality work. The sequence from KO's three cannonballs ending with Zayn's Blue Thunder Bomb was absolutely fantastic. In the end the Champ picks up the victory with a vicious powerbomb.

Sasha Banks challenged Charlotte to an Ironman Match at Roadblock. I can hear the internet rage from my bedroom.

Rich Swann vs. TJ Perkins

Call me crazy but I think the WWE Universe is starting to come around on the Cruiserweights. It makes sense this would happen once they put the title on Rich Swann. This is no shade to the other Cruiserweights, all I a massive fan of, Swann just has it. The entertainment and skill in the ring is on the same level. Swann does things with a bit of pizzazz. Hopes this helps the Cruiserweights finally get over with the crowd. As for the match it was really fun and the crowd was really into it at times. Perkins was a bit more aggressive than usual which kept Swann on defense for much of the match. Perkins attempted a springboard maneuver but gets caught with Swann's spinning back kick. Great match.

Bayley vs. Alicia Fox

Bayley won with the Bayley to Belly. I laughed when Fox yelled, "I love hugs just not on my man!"

Lana sent Enzo a pic. It is happening. Rusev is looking for Lana and finds Cass. Rusev interrogates Cass and when he doesn't get the answer he wants he tries to play tough guy. Looks like we're getting Rusev vs. Big Cass.

The match between Titus and Mark Henry billed "The Tussle in Texas" lasted about a minute with Henry winning with the World's Strongest Slam.

Ric Flair to the rescue! The Nature Boy makes sure Enzo gets to his hotel date with Lana by lending Enzo his limo.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Chris Jericho for the United States Championship

Looks like Jericho wants to go it alone as he tells Kevin Owens to stay away from him. I like this match because it kept your attention and they did absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. It followed a very simple formula and the crowd loved it. Although Jericho told Owens to stay in the back Owens did not listen and made his presence in the match. With the referee not paying attention Owens kicks Reigns in the head. Jericho catches Roman with a Codebreaker for what KO thought was certainly a three count. It wasn't and Owens is beside himself on the apron. Jericho comes to and is not happy with Owens. Jericho scolds Owens like a little child then sends him to the back like he's been grounded. Jericho avoids one Spear but not a second and Roman gets the win. Slow start to a very good ending.

Big Cass vs. Rusev

When Rusev didn't come out during his theme Cass knew something was wrong. We cut to Enzo making his way to Lana's hotel room. Remember when I said I think this was a trap? Well, IT WAS A TRAP! Enzo didn't feel right from the beginning but Lana kept messing with him until Enzo was vulnerable and in his unmentionables. She calls out to Rusev who comes out from the back and beats the dickens out of Enzo. It was kind of uncomfortable to watch. If I see Lana on the street, I'm looking straight down. Don't ever look Rusev's wife in the eye.

Gallows and Anderson vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

Everything was going just fine until The New Day got a little too close to the action. They get caught in a scuffle and retaliate causing the referee to end the match. Kofi goes for a dive to the outside but gets caught by Sheamus and Cesaro who powerbomb him into his teammates.

Charlotte comes out to the ring to publicly apologize to her father for what she said to him this past May. She seemed to have a change of heart watching her father raise the hand of her arch nemesis during an embarrassing defeat.Charlotte calls out her father The Nature Boy Ric Flair. He enters the ring and Charlotte gives what seems to be a very sincere sorry. Keep in mind these two have not spoken in almost seven months. They share a heartwarming embrace. Overcome with emotions they both go to hug again when Charlotte rears back and smacks her father square in the mouth. The Raw Women's Champion comes running down to the ring but is cut off by Charlotte who beats Sasha up and down the ringside area. After she is finish beating down Sasha she drags her into the ring and places her at the feet of her father who is in tears. Wow I am shocked.

Looks like that's all there is for tonight's Raw. Not a bad episode there was just so much going on that the show became a chore. Only thing I'm really looking forward to seeing is how Owens is going to react to permanently getting the boot from Jericho.
