205 Live Recap - 11/29/16

Tonight is the premiere episode of 205 Live! This show will feature only Cruiserweights. (205 lbs. or less) Let's see what 205 Live has to offer.

Before the show we are introduced to all the men who will be featured weekly on 205 Live including Rich Swann and his opponent tonight the Cruiserweight Champion The Brian Kendrick.

The commentary team consists of Corey Graves, Mauro Ranallo, and NXT Austin Aries so we should be in for a fun night.

Bollywood Boyz vs. Drew Gulak and Tony Nese

If you frequently watch Monday Night Raw then you should be quite familiar with Gulak and Nese who are common fixtures when the Division is being featured on the show. You may be familiar with The Bollywood Boyz if you tuned in to the Cruiserweight Classic as they competed in unsuccessful singles bids. Harv and Gurv Sihra hail from India and have been lifelong fans of the WWE. The brothers say they are influenced by names such as Bret Hart to Chris Jericho.

The match was a good watch and I especially enjoyed the tandem offense from Harv and Gurv. Nese and Gulak do a great job of cutting off the ring but the quick tag offense from the Bollywood Boyz proves to be too much. Bollywood Boyz get the win with a double superkick.

Backstage TJ Perkins interrupts an interview segment with Brian Kendrick. Perkins feels as though he still owed a rematch for the Cruiserweight Championship. If Kendrick wins tonight, he should be prepared to be hunted by Perkins who offers a good luck to Kendrick before he exits.

Ariyah Daivari vs. Jack Gallagher

Highly enjoyable match highlighted by the proficient technical skill of "The Gentleman" Jack Gallagher. Hailing from Manchester, England Gallagher is pretty much the human embodiment of the English style of pro wrestling. Smooth transitions, slick counters, limb manipulation...the whole package. Daivari is the brother of former WWE star of the same last name and has been steadily carving his name as one one of the best pure wrestlers on the Indy Wrestling circuit, specifically in the North West part of the US. Gallagher gets the win with a running corner kick.

The Brian Kendrick (c) vs. Rich Swann for the Cruiserweight Championship

Oh man what a match! This had everything you need for a solid main event on a debuting show. Kendrick does a phenomenal job targeting the neck of Swann with multiple snap suplexes and a neckbreaker over the actual turnbuckle. Swann hit Kendrick hard and made sure every strike had some heat behind it. These two went back and forth and it seemed no matter what Kendrick did he was not able to put Swann away. Kendrick goes to run in on Swann and Swann rifles off two spinning back kicks right on the button, hulks up, then hits Kendrick again with another spinning back kick. 1...2...3! Rich Swann has done it! Rich Swann is the NEW Cruiserweight Champion! He dedicates the victory to his mother who he says was with everyone tonight in spirit. Swann is the definition of never ever giving up no matter what the world keeps throwing in your way. Congratulations Rich Swann, you deserve it.
