RAW Recap - 10/3/16; The Ladies Close the Show!

Tonight Raw takes place under the bright lights of Hollywood at the Staples Center in Los Angeles! TJ Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick, Charlotte defends the Women's Championship against Sasha Banks, and more!

The show kicks off with US Champ Roman Reigns. He begins to talk about how his Samoan heritage is deeply rooted in the history of professional wrestling. Before he could finish his thoughts he is interrupted by Lana, the wife of Rusev. Lana is steaming mad at the disrespect Roman has showed her and Rusev over the past few weeks. She is really, really mad. Roman drops a couple more jokes at the expense of Rusev who finally makes his way to ringside. Both men get into a crazy brawl both in and out of the ring with Rusev gaining the upperhand. Rusev boots Roman over the barricade and walks away with Roman's US Title. Rusev is at the top gloating when out of nowhere Roman clocks Rusev with a Superman Punch! Roman then announces he will give Rusev another shot at the US Title...inside Hell in a Cell! Sign me up.

TJ Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick

Really good match and unlike last week the crowd showed both men the proper respect for their efforts. Kendrick has completely changed his offensive game by going for a more ground and pound offense mixed in with smart tactics. He traps TJ's hand in the turnbuckle. Quick but innovative. Kendrick was able to lock in the Pirate's Hook submission about three times before Perkins had no choice but to tap out. God thing this wasn't for the Cruiserweight Championship. Great match.

Coming back from break we have a sit down interview from Michael Cole with Seth Rollins.

Kevin Owens will respond later tonight.

Braun Strowman killed another jobber. Byron Saxton asked Strowman what's next after leaving a trail of carnage in his wake. Braun says Foley better find him some competition next week...or there might not be a next week.

Universal Champion Kevin Owens made his way down the ring with his pal Chris Jericho to respond to Seth Rollins. Somehow during this segment Jericho was able to convince Owens that they should focus on winning the tag titles from the New Day and in order to do that Owens and Jericho must beat New Day in a non-title match first. New Day comes out, tells a few jokes, the crowd laughs and they accept the challenge for later tonight.

Sami Zayn vs. Titus O'Neil

This was basically all Titus up until the last minute of the match where Sami was able to execute an exploder suplex in the corner and followed that up with the Helluva Kick for the win.

Golden Truth vs. Gallows and Anderson

I actually really enjoyed this tag match. Nothing crazy it was just a solid tag match. Gallows and Anderson get the win.

Owens and Jericho are confronted by Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson who inform both men they'll be ringside for their match against the New Day.

JeriKO vs. The New Day

I thoroughly enjoyed this match. The offense was balanced and fast paced. Kutcher and Masterson joined the commentary team and actually were pretty entertaining while adding to the analyst of the match. During the match Seth Rollins slowly made his way to the ring to get under the skin of his adversary Kevin Owens. It looked like JeriKO was going to pick up the win with Woods of The New Day in the clutches of the Walls of Jericho when Rollins hops up on the apron distracting Jericho. New Day hits the Midnight Hour and pick up the win! After the match Rollins hits Jericho with a Pedigree.

Tony Nese vs. Rich Swann

Really fun match that had the crowd ooo'ing and aaaah'ing thanks to both men. Surprised at Nese picking up the win seeing as Swann has the ability to connect with both hardcore and casual fans right off the bat because he knows how to entertain. However Nese is literally the complete package as a sports entertainer. Speed, agility, power, striking ability, and a great physique. Safe to say we'll see more of both men in the future.

Cesaro and Sheamus defeat two jobbers in a match of oneupmanship.

Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks for the RAW Women's Championship

Just when you think these women could not top what they've done they go out and prove you wrong. This was a fantastic match from the psychological standpoint with Charlotte doing a phenomenal job focusing most of her offense to the less than fully healed back of Banks. On the opposite side this match once again showcased the heart and resiliency of Sasha Banks. Highlight of the night came when Charlotte went up top. This is usually the spot where she lands easily the best moonsault in the game but tonight she throws caution to the wind and goes for a beautiful corkscrew moonsault! Back in the ring to the closing moments where it looked as though Charlotte was looking for a tilt a whirl backbreaker however Banks counters it into the Banks Statement! Charlotte rolls back turning it into a pin but Sasha kicks out at two with the hold still locked on! Charlotte taps! Sasha Banks is a two time WWE Women's Champion!

The show closes with Sasha celebrating in the ring while Charlotte sobs up the ramp. Great main event.
