SmackDown Live! Rapid Recap - 8/2/16; John Cena Loves WWE and I Love John Cena

American Alpha debuts, Brock Lesnar appears and more!

Ambrose and Ziggler had an excellent face to face segment to open the show. Ambrose basically called out Ziggler and all his nuisances. This caused that passionate fire inside Dolph to be lit, the one where the chip on his shoulder grows and he makes himself out to be the most underrated, under appreciated performer on WWE. Even with all that Ambrose still shut him down with pretty much a "Nah you're not gonna do any of that" and walked away. Awesome.

Out of nowhere Bray Wyatt hits Ziggler with Sister Abigail then gets on the mic and challenges Dolph to a match...with his number one contender spot on the line!

Apollo Crews defeated Kalisto and Baron Corbin in a triple threat match to get a shot at The Miz and the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.

American Alpha debuted tonight on the main roster. I wish there were a thousand American Alpha matches because I'd watch them all. Grand freakin' Amplitude baby.

AJ Styles and John Cena had an intense segment. Truthfully I have no clue where AJ was going with this promo. I do know John Cena was on absolute fire tonight. John Cena loves the WWE and I love John Cena.

Randy Orton was taking on Fandango when Brock Lesnar jumped the ring and hit Orton with an F5. He was then escorted out of the arena by Shane McMahon and security.

The main event saw Dolph Ziggler putting his number one contender spot on the line against Bray Wyatt. Pretty solid match. Looked a little scary in the beginning with Bray hyperextending his ankle or knee. He recovered quite well to put on an entertaining match. Interesting moment saw Dolph remove the turnbuckle padding in the corner. In the closing moments Dolph would use the exposed turnbuckle to set Bray up for a superkick and a win. Dolph is still your number one contender for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

Before the show closes Erick Rowan comes out of nowhere and attacks Dolph. Dean tries to make the save but gets dumped to the outside. Bray hits Sister Abigail as the show ends.
