SmackDown Live Rapid Recap - 7/26/16; Breaking Glass Ceilings

The New Era continues with SmackDown Live!

The show opens with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan announcing that there will be a six pack challenge tonight to determine who will be the number one contender to face Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam for the WWE Championship. The participants are as follows: John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, and the winner of the Battle Royal to determine the final participant, Apollo Crews. Should be a fun match tonight.

*ALERT ALERT* Shelton Benjamin is coming back to WWE! AIN'T NO STOPPIN' ME NOOOOOOOOOW!

Randy Orton had his first TV match in nine months defeating the Intercontinental Champion The Miz with two RKOs.

Heath Slater came out of the crowd to voice his displeasure over not getting drafted to either brand. He calls out Shane who says if he's trying to get a job then he should send in his resume. Heath tells Shane all he has to do is log on to the Network to see all of Heath's accomplishments. While Heath is shooting off at the mouth out of nowhere appears a wild Rhyno. Slater has no idea what's waiting behind him but when he turns around and gets gored out of his socks.

The Six Pack Challenge match to determine the number one contender was a solid main event. Each man got moments to shine and it was really hard to look away from the TV during the final sequences. Here's something I'm sure many did not see coming, Styles hits Cena with the Phenomenal Forearm sending him to the outside. Styles turns around and gets his teeth knocked down his throat courtesy of a Superkick from Dolph Ziggler. Dolph pins Styles and wins the match becoming the number one contender for the WWE Championship. He will face current Champion Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam. I didn't know I actually wanted to see this match until both men had an intense staredown to close the show.
