SmackDown Recap - 2/11/16

Angie here with this week's Smackdown recap. We're coming off an emotional week of wrestling due to the retirement of the great Daniel Bryan. So, let's see what the Superstars have in store for us on SmackDown.

Written by: Angie Delgado

Chris Jericho vs AJ Styles

Smackdown gets right to it tonight with Jericho getting on the mic saying he respects AJ Styles but doesn't like AJ Styles. When the match is about to get under way, The Social Outcasts interrupt for some reason. So what do you think happens next? TAG TEAM MATCH, PLAYAH!

Chris Jericho and AJ Styles vs The Social Outcasts

Jericho and Styles playing "Anything you can do, I can do better" back and forth. I guess facing off against The Social Outcasts make perfect practice. AJ Styles was in trouble until Jericho got the hot tag. Jericho connected with the Lionsault and Styles tagged himself in. AJ hit the springboard elbow on Adam Rose and got the pinfall victory for he and Jericho. Jericho hits the Codebreaker to Styles to set up their match later on.

The Dudleyz make their way out to explain why they did everyone a favor and took out The Usos. Yes, they turned heel but you couldn't tell with the crowd reaction on Monday. They cut an awesome heel promo. Bubba saying he's sick and tired of hearing about Daniel Bryan. The WWE universe only sees them as a nostalgia act and that tables didn't get them nine WWE Tag Team Titles. They are saying goodbye to the tables. *Sings It's So Hard to Say Goodbye*. This is good move for them. To me, they should've did this earlier when they came back. Hopefully we get another title run from them. We saw the New Age Outlaws with a title run two years ago. Why not the Dudleyz?

Sasha Banks vs Naomi (Becky Lynch on commentary)

This match had a similar feel to Monday's match between Becky Lynch vs Tamina with Sasha on commentary. But unlike last week, this match was a bit more competitive. As the match was heating up, Tamina threw a cheap shot at Becky by the announce table and a brawl breaks out. Sasha comes to the aid of Becky and lays the filthiest boot to the face to Tamina. As Naomi went for the quick pin, Sasha reversed and applied the Bank Statement for the win. If the Sasha/Becky vs Tamina/Naomi tag match at Fastlane is as exciting as this match, then we are on to something to this Diva's Division.

The Wyatt Family made their way to the ring to scare us again. Bray is talking about Titans, Old Gods and New Gods. What is this, Game of Thrones? It looks like they want to get rid of all the big guys in the WWE and be their own big guy? I don't know if that made sense but you got what I meant, right? Man...Bray Wyatt's been in the main roster going on three years now I would've thought he'd have a title run. The Wyatt's are all talk, but nothing to show at the end.

Neville and The Lucha Dragons vs The Ascension and Stardust

Talk about a squash. I don't think Neville and The Lucha Dragons broke a sweat. They got the win when Kalisto, Sin Cara, and Neville hit Salida del Sol, Swanton Bomb, and the Red Arrow consecutively. At least Stardust wasn't pinned? #FreeCodyRhodes

Smackdown replayed Daniel Bryan's retirement speech and the video package. I may or may not have cried like a baby again. I'm gonna miss him and wish him all the best. There's also going to be a "Greatest Daniel Bryan Moments" section being released tomorrow on the Network. There goes my weekend plans.

Main Event: AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho

We finally see Round 2 before we were rudely interrupted by The Social Dickheads (That's what I'm calling them now). It's still surreal that AJ Styles is in WWE let alone on the main event on Smackdown against a future Hall of Famer in Y2J. This match is just as good as the one they had on RAW a few weeks back. Though Jericho doesn't look it physically, he's amazingly hasn't lost a step. His springboard dropkicks are still on point. AJ whiffed a drop kick and Jericho went for the lionsault and AJ kicked out at 2. Jericho reversed the Styles Clash and applied the Walls. Then AJ reversed himself and applied the Calf Crusher until Jericho got to the ropes for the break. Chris Jericho rejects the springboard elbow, after a bad angle on the pin, Jericho hit the Code Breaker for the win. Wow. Best Smackdown match in years. You have to believe the final round between these two will take place at Fastlane. Chris Jericho may come off as an "annoying cool dad" persona but you can't deny his ability in the ring at 45.

Another great Smackdown in the books! Thanks for reading. Comment below with thoughts or follow me on Twitter!

See ya, next week!
