SmackDown Recap - 1/14/16

Hello again, Wrestling Chronicle readers! Angie here with another Smackdown Recap. We're Coming off a Raw that featured the return of the Beast, Brock Lesnar, cleaning house at the end of Raw last Monday. Smackdown is action packed with a triple main event scheduled featuring:

The Wyatts vs The Dudley Boyz in a Tables Match

Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto in a United States Title rematch

Dean Ambrose and Neville vs Kevin Owens and Sheamus

Written by: Angie Delgado

Dean Ambrose opens the show arriving in a pick up truck. I'm assuming he was hitch hiking by the looks of it. He made his way to the ring and calls out Kevin Owens. Dean Ambrose hilariously asks for drum roll, and gets it. He challenges Kevin Owens to a Last Man Standing Match at the Royal Rumble. Sheamus interrupts Ambrose for some reason. He doesn't want to wait for the tag match and wants to fight now. Kevin Owens comes out and accepts the Royal Rumble challenge. Brawl breaks out and Neville comes out for the save. BOLD PREDICTION... Ambrose and Owens will steal the show at The Rumble. The build to rivalry is great and I hope we see destruction.

TABLES MATCH: The Wyatt Family vs The Dudley Boyz

The Dudleys start fast as they do the "WAZZAAAAPPP" (because it's still 1999 apparently). That gets disrupted and The Wyatts get the upper hand. Braun Strowman gets involved in the match. As D'Von and Luke Harper are on the top turnbuckle, D'Von pushes Harper onto a table for the victory. The celebration is short lived as Strowman pushes D'Von through a table and Harper and Rowan chokeslams Bubba through two tables.

It's been a pretty lackluster return for The Dudleyz and I have no idea what the point is. They are a shell of their former selves. I thought they'd have another run as champs but I'm sure the popularity of The New Day has put a damper on that. There are rumors of a split and Bubba Ray going back as his Bully Ray character. Don't know where that would fit in.

The Social Outcasts vs Goldust, Jack Swagger, Zack Ryder, and Damien Sandow

In a show that features three main events, I guess you have to book all the jobbers in one. At least these guys have something to do. Nothing about this match was exciting except for the Social Outcast doing a victory lap a minute into the match. Bo Dallas hits the Bo Dog to Zack Ryder and the Social Outcasts win.

The United States Championship Rematch: Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto

Oh, you thought Kalisto was gonna get a lengthy Title reign? Guess again. The match was all Del Rio and him working on his shoulder. As Del Rio was setting his double stomp on the ropes, Kalisto counters with a reversed Hurricanrana. Wade Barrett shows up and causes a distraction, Del Rio connects the arm breaker but Kalisto breaks the hold. After a botched attempt at a flying maneuver outside the ring, Del Rio again connects with the arm breaker. Kalisto taps and Del Rio is once again champion. Questionable to give the title back to Del Rio unless they'll give it back to Kalisto at the Rumble. I hope so.

Becky Lynch vs Brie Bella

Brie Bella is still horrible in the ring and makes us miss Nikki Bella more. Becky won with the DisArmer. Becky Lynch is on a roll character and in ring wise. Her rivalry with Charlotte has definitely gave her a spark the Diva Division needed. I'd have Becky win at the Rumble and get ready to add Sasha to this rivalry and have all three of them fight for the Diva's Title at Mania. I love Becky but when Sasha is back in the fold of things, it's time to get her involved.

Dean Ambrose and Neville vs Kevin Owens and Sheamus

Exciting performance by all four men. The match ended in a disqualification after Owens hits Ambrose with part of the announce table. Ambrose hits Owens with Dirty Deeds and Neville tops it off with a Red Arrow. Smackdown ends with Ambrose and Neville standing tall.

Another action packed Smackdown in the books!

One thing I noticed throughout the show, When did Jerry Lawler become a heel again? That came out of nowhere. Not what he was in the Attitude Era though.
