Highlights

John Cena opened the show and threatened to hold the show hostage if Ryback, Erick Rowan, and Dolph Ziggler aren't rehired. Out come Stephanie McMahon and Triple H of the Authority to let Cena know that he was told those three Superstars' jobs were in jeopardy if they chose to side with Cena. The Authority said Cena could be the hero once again all he would have to do is defeat Rollins right now in a Lumberjack Match.

The match itself was decent. The Lumberjacks were used effectively rather than just standing there. I like many am growing tired of the shuffling of the same four guys being centered around the main story but any time we get a Rollins/Cena match it will at least be solid.

The tag match between The New Day (Kingston/Woods combo) versus Tyson Kidd and Cesaro wasn't memorable. New Day got the win with a backbreaker double stomp off the top combo. Made me think of Finn Balor and Hideo Itami. Man I love NXT.

Big Show comes down to the ring at the top of the second hour to cut another promo about being a giant. The crowd gets on him good with "Big Show sucks" and "BORING" chants. He goes on about job security and how he's not threaten by Roman Reigns. Out comes Roman and...oh my God he has a mic. The promo was centered around Jack and the Beanstalk. Yeah, it's as bad as you're imagining it. Roman's match versus Luke Harper wasn't anything crazy either however Harper was getting the bigger reactions on his moves than Reigns was.

Miz and Mizdow backstage doing something involving the Golden Globes and um..okay.

Alicia Fox took on Naomi with the speculation that Naomi had to wrestle with one arm tied behind her back. This is in retaliation to her husband making negative remarks about The Authority on social media. Continuing with tonight's theme, the match wasn't anything worth commenting on.

Dean Ambrose is backstage with a "psychiatrist" who has to evaluate Dean to make sure he's fit to compete mentally. If not he cannot compete in the Royal Rumble. They first do some word association with various images. Truly funny stuff.

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman come down to the ring and of course with Raw being in Louisiana for the first time since WrestleMania 30 the promo from Paul Heyman really drilled in deeper Brock defeating Taker. From then on the promo becomes a sell job for tonight's Royal Rumble main event contract signing.

The third hour of Raw kicked off with Daniel Bryan. He vowed to win the Royal Rumble and win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Stephanie McMahon interrupts Bryan and reminds Daniel how after winning the WHC at WrestleMania he was injured and out of action for eight months. She makes the announcement that this Thursday on SmackDown's new night Daniel Bryan will be taking on Kane. Out comes Kane and both men have a wild brawl. It was very well done and felt like it had the same urgency to it like a PPV match.

Backstage Seth Rollins comes face to face with Brock Lesnar. This moment right here made Rollins look like a main eventer if he didn't like one already.

Paige took on Brie Bella. Brie obviously had her sister Divas Champion Nikki Bella in her corner. In Paige's corner would be her new friend Natalya along with Natalya's husband Tyson Kidd. The match was going on fine until Tyson Kidd got on the apron. This distracted Paige which allowed Brie to get a roll up for a quick win. Why Tyson why?

The Macho Man Randy Savage is finally getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. DIG IT.

The Ascension beat up two short dudes that WWE must've found on the street. Right now the allure of Ascension matches is JBL completely taking a dump on them on commentary.

Rusev cut the typical "I'm going to win the Royal Rumble" promo before a now medically cleared Dean Ambrose interrupts him. They brawl as we go to commercial. When we come back from commercial and the two are still fighting this time with a referee to make it official. The match is basically Rusev working the hell out of Dean's injured knee. The ref has no choice but to stop the match for Dean's well being.

The contract signing for the main event at Royal Rumble closes out the show. We usually get one of these every month it seems but this one was done pretty well. Rollins to me is well on his way to being a mega star and it is well deserved. Aside from putting on pretty good matches, on the mic he exudes the confidence as a main event heel. I feel like the main event is being overshadowed by how lackluster the product is. It is a must see main event and even now it can really go either way. Brock is unstoppable, Cena is determined, and Rollins is smart. The show closes with Cena AA'ing Brock through a table but gets curbstomped by Rollins. To add insult he curbstomps the champion Brock Lesnar as well. If all of that doesn't make you think that Rollins is definitely a made man I don't know what will.
