HobosGhost's Scavenger Hunt: 22-0 The Streak Continues!

Hello everyone and welcome once again to the Scavenger Hunt with yours truly, the man no-one but me calls HobosGhost! Each week I compile five completely random clips from the internet involving the magical and mysterious world of wrestling!

Without further delay let's begin!

WWE
28th January 2002
Brock Lesnar vs Mr Perfect (Dark Match)

Kicking off with a rather grainy video of a dark match before WWE Raw from 2002 between the Hall of Fame inductee "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig and the future Beast Incarnate... Brock Lesnar!

Having been successful as an amateur wrestler and graduating from the University of Minnesota, Brock signed with the WWE in 2000 and trained at Ohio Valley Wrestling. He started wrestling dark matches before WWE TV tapings in 2001 and 2002 before making his debut, destroying Maven, Al Snow, and Spike Dudley on Raw on March 18th 2002.

What makes this non-tv match interesting is what happened on the "Plane Ride From Hell". On May 5th 2002 the WWE were flying back from the UK after a tour. After alcohol was consumed many talents started getting into various situations. It was Curt Hennig who goaded Brock about who the better amateur wrestler was. This resulted in the two scuffling in the aisle with Brock getting the upper hand before other talents stepped in to break it up. Hennig was released shortly afterwards. The video is not the best quality, but it's interesting nonetheless!

Fierce Females
20th July 2014
Scottish Women's Championship Match
Kay Lee Ray vs Nikki Storm

On to Scotland to showcase two of the finest Scotland and the UK have to offer as Kay Lee Ray battles Nikki Storm! Both have been featured in the current TNA British Boot Camp 2 show and received high praise.

Nikki has been making regular trips to the USA in the last couple of years to appear for Shimmer, Shine and AIW among others, taking on such opponents as Awesome Kong, Kimber Lee and Candice LaRae. Kay Lee Ray has now been making trips to the USA, making her American debut at the AIW Girl's Night Out 11 and 12 shows in March 2014. She lost to Veda Scott on her debut but defeated Kimber Lee in her second match. She wrestled for Shimmer and Shine a month later and also took on Gail Kim on a TNA Impact taping in September before making more appearance for Shimmer.

Both have the tools and skills to make it far, I hope they both do!

WWE
22nd October 1991 (Broadcast 10th November 1991)
Undertaker vs Texas Tornado

As the title of this episode references the streak, The Undertaker joins Brock in this weeks episode! Here we have the main event of WWE Wrestling Challenge leading up to WWE Survivor Series. The Undertaker would challenge (and defeat) Hulk Hogan with help from Ric Flair and a chair at the event. To help build up Undertaker's credibility he would initially booked to squash Ricky Steamboat at this taping. Steamboat declined and would soon depart. The role was then given to Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich.

After Von Erich's Intercontinental title run was ended he was on a downward spiral, mostly wrestling house shows with limited TV and PPV time, eventually being released in July 1992 after losing to Kamala at a house show event. On the 18th February 1993 Von Erich passed away after committing suicide when faced with jail time for a second drug violation. He was the last of the Von Erich sons that died, all via suicide with Kevin Von Erich being the sole brother left.

AWA Superstars
18th December 2001
CM Punk vs Colt Cabana

After the most talked about podcast interview in recent times (besides Austin-McMahon) it's totally coincidental of course that this match appears! From 2001 it's CM Punk vs Colt Cabana!

While training at the Steel Dominion wrestling school, CM Punk started working for Steel Domain Wrestling and it was there he met (and became friends with) Colt Cabana. They would wrestle each other for the early part of their indie career and also team together.

This match is the second match I have seen where they did the end spot. The pre-match promo from Punk showed the early potential of how sharp tongued he could be. Early in their careers but pretty solid.

13 years later they are involved in a podcast which has got many wrestling fans talking!

And Finally...

AAA
18th March 2011
Rey De Reyes Final
Extreme Tiger vs Carlito vs LA Par-K vs El Mesias

We end with the final from AAA's Rey De Reyes tournament! You could say it's WWE vs WCW vs TNA in this one! Extreme Tiger is currently in TNA as Tigre Uno. A former two time AAA Cruiserweight Champion and former AAA Tag Team Champion, the now 33 year old made his wrestling debut at only 17 years old. This would be his only Rey De Reyes final appearance to date. Carlito of course was in WWE but is now still on the indie scene, wrestling in USA, Mexico and Puerto Rico along with appearances in UK and Germany.

El Mesias was briefly in TNA in a feud with Abyss which involved a no rope barbed-wire match. The Puerto Rican born wrestler continues to wrestle for AAA and now in Lucha Underground as Mil Muertes.

LA Par-K is the former La Parka of WCW. When he departed Mexico for WCW he did not own the La Parka trademark. AAA then placed another wrestler in the La Parka role. When the original La Parka returned to Mexico he was forced to change his name to LA Par-K, even feuding with the 2nd La Parka in storyline. At 49 years old, LA Par-K was recently in hospital but shows no signs of slowing down, wrestling for promotions all over Mexico.

That wrestling fans concludes this weeks Scavenger Hunt! Another random set to digest! Thanks to Erik at TWC and you the readers/viewers (dont be afraid to say hi on twitter, i don't bite....much). Also thanks to those who post this stuff for us all to find on the crazy world of the internet!

Until next time....the Scavenger Hunt streak's still alive and well!
