Exclusive: HoustonWrestlingRadio.com Sits Down With Jay Lethal

Jay Lethal's exclusive interview with HoustonWrestlingRadio.com

This weekend Jay Lethal was in San Antonio for the RoH show where he had a quick backstage exclusive interview with HoustonWrestlingRadio.com Here are some of the highlights:

On who, other than Macho Man Randy Savage and Nature Boy Ric Flair, were his childhood inspirations:
It's well documented that I'm a big Savage and Ric Flair fan, but I'm also a big fan of Chris Benoit. My older brother liked wrestling and wrestling was on and it must have been WCW because I saw Chris Benoit, who I didn't know at the time, but he did a snap suplex, and it was the first time I'd ever seen a snap suplex and it was amazing. I called for my brother who was in the bathroom and I needed to know what that move was and who does that move because it was the greatest move I'd ever seen in my whole life. So yeah not too many people know that Chris Benoit was a big inspiration to me being a wrestler.

On being ACH's opponent in ACH's hometown of San Antonio, Texas in a match that took place later that night for Ring of Honor Wrestling:
Normally I am the hometown-boy, and I think I've made somewhat of a living on being the hometown-boy. But now the roles are reversed. I can remember having my dream match against Ric Flair, every feeling I had, I remember how grateful I was, it was un-real. And this kind of makes me feel a little older, when somebody says that wrestling me is a dream match. it just takes me back to when I had my dream match against Flair so I know exactly what he's feeling, exactly what he's going through. I don't know if it's anywhere near what I was going through because I was in the ring with my idol. But hopefully this will be a big match for Ring of Honor and for ACH. I know he's got a lot of  family here. I'm the master at wrestling in front of my family every time we're in the New York area. and this is the first time for ACH to be wrestling in front of his entire family. So I know exactly what he's going through and I hope send all the fans of Ring of Honor, ACH's family and ACH himself home happy and I hope today is very successful for him.

Later that night Jay Lethal and ACH had a 5 star match that was very well received by everyone in attendance that night in San Antonio. That match will be available to view on demand on www.rohwrestling.com
